Age its just a number

So Happy Birthday to me. Yes today I am a year older. I am not so sure about the wiser part of all this but we will see how the year plans out.

I got some awesome presents including a $200 gift voucher from Amazon. Now that's how to make the owner of a Kindle happy. I see a year filled with books.

I also recieved a number of lavender bath products which I will be handing over to my mother. Yes I am a year older but I am not that old that I am willing to accept lavender in my life.

The biggest present is a ticket to see my friends in Oz and attend a school reunion. I am looking forward to seeing everyone again and having some time on my own. Yes I am leaving the husband and the child at home. So this year I get to visit young me again. The only problem is now I prefer a cup of tea in bed while I snuggle down to watch the Daily Show and if I feel like a late night an episode of QI.

I guess I will have to get my party shoes on.

So my goals for this year.

Get my first novel published. This isn't just a goal it has to happen I can't take another year as a GIS Consultant.

Swim the Midmar Mile - well I have entered so now I just have to swim I can do a mile in 40min now so I should make it.

Slightly secret goal just because I am afraid it wont happen. I will let you know once the process starts.

Keep up running and boot camp.

Blog more often.

Spend more time with Ewan. Sometimes work can wait.

Drink more wine and laugh more.

Accept my life and love it for what it is.

Use my knowledge to get involved in Save the Rhino

Do the online course with Matador Travel

So yes I have started using Oil of Delay but I am still on the young side of life dammit and I have lots to do this year.

Now where are my glasses?

Its been a while

So the story of the terrible blogger. I could come up with a thousand excuses but really I just haven't felt like blogging in a while. I have been writing but to me thats much easier. I had to be honest sort of given up on this blog but then a friend of mine Sarah sent me a card with a picture of her adorable new baby girl on the front and a request not to stop blogging on the back. Well I can' t say no to all that cute:)

So lets start with the big news.

Ewan started Kindergarten. He doesn't seem to be enjoying it much at the moment. I think its all very new and a big adjustment for him. The worst part is there is another boy there who hits him and hurts him. The boy seems to pick on all the kids but Ewan is a bit of a sensitive soul so it seems to have really affected him.

The school is a small private German school. So I have already been to one mothers meeting and I have to go to a parents meeting on my birthday. I am not impressed with that idea but such is life.

So he is now at school from 7-12 three days a week. The other two days his nanny Jene comes in to look after him. Jene is leaving to Au Pair in the States in the middle of Feb so I hope he has settled into school by then as I would like to change it to five days a week. The afternoons are still the same with a nap from 1-3 then my parents fetch him and I pick him up sometime between 5 and 6.

I will be really sad to see Jene go as she has been so good to Ewan for the past year and he utterly adores her. He tells everyone that Jene is his girlfriend. Its very sweet.

The other big drama with starting school is that he got sick on Thursday and by Friday Andrew and I were sick as well. We had to take my Land Rover to Umhlangha for its service. The plan was to take the car down on Friday then have a lovely weekend at the beach. Well we did spend the weekend in Ballito but as we were all sick it wasn't exactly great fun.

This morning I had to fetch Ewan early from school as they phoned to tell me he was sick and crying. Fun times.

In other news.

The Midmar Mile is three weeks away. I am little bit nervous but it is something I have wanted to do for a really long time so I will get in that water and enjoy it.

Andrew reckons he will never swim again if he can help it.

I am sure it will be a great weekend away and hopefully we can raise some money for Reef.

Two weeks ago I started Boot Camp in the afternoons. So far its painful but I am sure the results will be great.

Otherwise we are still in little old Vryheid.
